Student finance in the UK consists of two main components: tuition fee loans (paid directly to your university) and maintenance loans (paid to you for living costs). The system is designed so you don't pay anything upfront.
Different nations, different rules - England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland each have their own student finance systems. Scottish students get free tuition at Scottish universities, while Welsh and NI students receive maintenance grants on top of loans.
