Edexcel GCSE Science (Legacy): Nine Unitised Papers Across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics

Pearson Edexcel GCSE Science is a legacy specification covering Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in a modular format. This collection contains the largest archive in this batch, with 504 resources spanning multiple Biology (B1-B3), Chemistry (C1-C3), and Physics (P1-P3) units across Foundation and Higher tiers. The legacy specification was organised into units by science subject and difficulty level. Biology units B1, B2, and B3 covered progressively more advanced biological content: B1 focused on life processes and cells, B2 on organisms and their environment, and B3 on life processes in animals and plants. Each unit was assessed through two exams (1F/1H at a lower level and 2F/2H at a higher level within the same topic area). Chemistry units C1, C2, and C3 similarly progressed from fundamental chemistry (atomic structure, bonding, chemical reactions) through applied chemistry (rates of reaction, energy changes) to more advanced topics (analytical chemistry, organic chemistry). Physics units P1, P2, and P3 covered energy, electricity, magnetism, waves, and radioactivity, building from GCSE-level fundamentals to A-Level-adjacent concepts. Additional Science was also offered as a separate GCSE within this specification, extending the core Science GCSE by requiring students to study additional Biology, Chemistry, and Physics units. Controlled assessments (the precursor to required practicals) were part of the qualification during this period and are included in the archive. With 504 resources, this is an exceptionally rich practice bank for any science student. Even though the specification has been replaced, the underlying science content — cell biology, atomic structure, forces, energy — remains highly relevant to all current GCSE science syllabi.

Nine Units of Legacy Science: A Strategic Approach to This Extensive Archive

With 504 resources organised by subject unit, these papers offer the ultimate topic-specific practice bank for science students. Rather than working through papers chronologically, organise your revision by topic: pull out all Biology B1 papers (across multiple years) before moving to B2, C1, and so on. This ensures thorough coverage of each topic before moving on. For Biology units, the required practical skills from this legacy specification — microscopy, chromatography, germination experiments — overlap significantly with the required practicals in the current Combined Science and separate Biology specifications. Experiment questions from these legacy papers provide excellent practice for the practical skills assessed in modern exams. Chemistry questions on moles calculations, rates of reaction, and electrolysis appear in broadly similar forms across legacy and modern specifications. Units C1 and C2 papers provide high-volume practice on these foundational topics, which are some of the highest-mark topics in current GCSE Chemistry. Focus particular attention on calculation questions, where laying out working clearly is essential for earning method marks. Physics unit papers — particularly P1 on energy and P2 on electricity — provide rich practice for the most numerically demanding areas of GCSE Physics. Questions on power calculations (P = IV), energy transfers, and circuit analysis appear extensively and follow consistent formats that reward systematic practice. When using these papers for revision, always cross-reference with the relevant current specification to confirm that the content you're practising is still examinable. Some legacy topics have been removed from current specifications — but most core content remains directly relevant.
